Working hard is about half the reality. In reality, working hard gets you fuck all in this world. Except a paycheque. Nothing more nothing less. I hate hearing that shit because it's bullshit.

Back in my day, we couldn't even google shit on our phones. We had to use this thing called "Ask Jeeves" on "dial-up" and waited weeks for porn... I mean, answers.

Stark reality. We need to hit this window while it's wide open. I don't care wtf we have to do. Everyone talks shit about the Hawks and their contracts, etc. Honestly, if that's the position we end up in on the back of winning a Cup or three oh well.

How in the fuck is this motherfucker using retirement as an excuse to not do something with his life? How do you plan on retiring at 65 with little to no savings? Oh. You want the next generation to pay for your retirement, eh? and god damn just when you think he might have learned something, he goes back to the immigration and Trudeau shit. He’s hopeless. I’m done.
  17. 1 point
Not necessarily. Mostly what people have suggested here is retraining and learning new skills. You don't have to move from Sudbury, but you might find an opportunity where you would have to commute. But yes, if you can't find good work in the place you are now, that often means going to where the work is. That's nothing new. Another tip, as you mentioned that handing out CVs face to face isn't a thing anymore. You're right, so if you aren't already, get on LinkedIn and start building your network of contacts. Companies use LI for finding new employees all the time, and job seekers can leverage the people they know at certain companies. Make sure you build your profile completely though, include your education, your recent skills that you've learned, etc.

Do me a favour, AM, stop referring to yourself as a member of Gen X, as you're an embarrassment to the rest of us. The dates might put you in that generation, but you think and act far more like a boomer. Also, shit or get off the pot. Stop finding excuses for not trying to better your life, and either admit that you can't really be arsed or, put the work in to try and better your life.

So, while doing fun things back in the day, what did you get away with that you can't get away with now? Cuz I mean, people still party. I just did on New Years Eve. You can go to an arcade (bowling alley? Dave and Busters?) without offending anyone. And I'm not sure what "happy times" is, but I can smoke weed legally now, so happy times are even better... You did not mean it that way originally.

This is honestly the creepiest thing you have said. ... Like, you just said it was more fun to sexually harass people back then and you can't get away with it anymore. Holy fuck dude.

My adoptive mum went back to school years ago and is currently thinking of pursuing her masters in psychology. She had a couple kids while going through nursing school in her 20s all while ESL with an MIA husband, went through some divorces and breakups, had another couple kids, did real estate for a few years, worked part time jobs as well, became a grandma and then went back for her bachelor's in social work. She's 61 next month I believe. All that while being a single mum basically. No excuses.

So why are you holding our generations to an impossible perfect standard. Every generation has it's problems. Including yours and mine. Fun? Not allowing sexual harassment has taken away the fun of what exactly? This is very troubling.

Well what the fuck are you waiting for? Us to hand it to you? To pay for your education. To give you a high paying job despite your lack of education. GOD, YOU SOUND LIKE A MILLENNIAL.
  26. 1 point
You seem like you're the one who wants high paying jobs without the work/skills/education involved. Free post secondary education for some jobs would actually be long term beneficial. Should people be getting free drama and arts degrees? Probably not. You see that because you're in a job working with high school kids who know Timmies is not going to be their career, you've got a poor sample size. They're not trying to support a family with their job.

Don't you dare blame immigrants they never done nothing wrong when they came to Canada, Justin Trudeau is the best prime minister since his father Pierre was in office. And hippies all they did was sing kumbaya, burn the bras and smoked up a lot. Nothing can be said about our current state of affairs cause it might piss someone off.

Without taking inflation into account there is no discussion because it is wholly irrelevant. Think about it. I could be fucking millionaire in Venezuelan Bolivars on one hour's pay here. You know what a million bolivars gets you in Venezuela? I'm honestly not sure I've seen a more ignorant discussion than what has transpired here the past few days. Seriously turns that semi-attractive hydro pole damn near an Armster magnet.

ya i'm gunna need someone to fact check uteck on that one cause i don't believe him either his mortage rate number is accurate, his salary number appears to be way off "Median earnings of Canadians employed on a full-time basis for a full year changed little during the past quarter century, edging up from $41,348 in 1980 to $41,401 in 2005 (in 2005 constant dollars)." https://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2006/as-sa/97-563/p1-eng.cfm https://globalnews.ca/news/3531614/average-hourly-wage-canada-stagnant/ “Taking inflation into account, the minimum wage peaked in 1976 at just over $11 and hour in Canada. The following year — 1977 — average hourly earnings peaked at close to $24.” In 2016, the average hourly wage paid to full-time employees was $27.70, wage data released Thursday found. https://www150.statcan.gc.ca/n1/en/pub/11f0019m/11f0019m2013347-eng.pdf?st=d0CA2J4s ya uteck is wrong about wages doubling

The unemployment rate is the lowest it’s been in over a decade you dumb fuck. I’m done holding back when talking to you. You’re a fucking idiot, dude. You may not be a malicious person, but you are so god damn ignorant, it’s unreal. You mention Trudeau out of the fucking blue when Kulemin is clearly talking about people who came here long before JT was elected. You get your news from racist groups on Facebook, you shout nonsense about “snowflakes” and millennials, without realizing that you’re the touchiest pusshole on this whole forum. You constantly complain about immigration, you claim to not have a problem with gay people but here you are, complaining about how we’re making “gay the norm”. You’re fucking ridiculous, and I don’t know why anyone tries to engage your nonsensical ramblings with thought out responses, because 99% of the time, you don’t even end up acknowledging what is said to you, you just go on some insane rant about some other bullshit. You bitch and moan about work all the time. Fucking get up and do something about your situation then. Don’t like working at Tims? Learn a fucking skill. Get a fucking special class of license. Stop complaining that you’re so hard done by and get up and do something about it. Stop bitching about the other generations and worry about changing your own shitty fucking attitude.
