Is there a team that's easier to hate than these shitbags? Been a long time since I felt like this about an opponent of the Leafs.

    GDT PLAYOFFS GAME THREE BRUINS/LEAFS

Time to get even louder!! AS OUR TEAM NOW HOSTS THE BRUINS AT HOME, IN TORONTO!! 5 Keys: Bruins at Maple Leafs, Game 3 Boston needs to repeat strong forechecking effort; Toronto hoping Matthews finds scoring touch by Mike Zeisberger @Zeisberger / NHL.com Staff Writer BRUINS at MAPLE LEAFS 7 p.m. ET; NBCSN, NESN, CBC, TVAS Best-of-7 series tied 1-1 [RELATED: Complete Bruins vs. Maple Leafs series coverage] The Boston Bruins and Toronto Maple Leafs will play for a 2-1 lead in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Scotiabank Arena on Monday. The Bruins won 4-1 in Game 2 after the Maple Leafs earned a 4-1 victory in Game 1. When a best-of-7 series is tied 1-1, the winner of Game 3 is 212-100 (67.9 percent) all time. Here are 5 keys for Game 3: 1. Replacing Nazem Kadri Kadri will have an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety in New York on Monday for his cross check on Bruins forward Jake DeBrusk at 14:03 of the third period of Game 2. The Maple Leafs forward received a five-minute major for cross-checking and a game misconduct. An in-person hearing means Kadri could be suspended for at least five games. NHL Tonight: Leafs-Bruins recap 02:39 • April 13th, 2019 Toronto coach Mike Babcock said Sunday that he is making contingency plans to fill Kadri's spot in the lineup. "Obviously I've got a couple of options in (Patrick) Marleau and (William) Nylander, so we'll work that out and decide what's best so we can get back to playing like we did in Game 1," Babcock said. Marleau and Nylander, each of whom usually plays on the wing, saw time at center when the Maple Leafs and Bruins played in the first round last season, when Kadri was suspended for three games for an illegal hit on Boston's Tommy Wingels during Game 1. 2. Bruins health -- or lack thereof Bruins coach Bruce Cassidy said Boston's depth could be tested given the number of players who are banged up. Forward Jake DeBrusk and defensemen Torey Krug each sustained an upper-body injury during Game 2 but will play. Defenseman Connor Clifton, who also sustained an upper-body injury in Game 2, is out and will be replaced by Steven Kampfer, who will make his NHL postseason debut. Cassidy also said forward Marcus Johansson, who missed Game 2 because of an illness, remains sick and won't play Game 3. Having DeBrusk and Krug back are bonuses for Boston. DeBrusk was fourth on the Bruins with 27 goals during the regular season. Krug had 53 points (six goals, 47 assists) in 64 games, fifth on the Bruins. Defenseman Jakub Zboril and forward Paul Carey had been called up from Providence of the American Hockey League on Sunday. It's unlikely either will be needed for Game 3. 3. Boston forecheck Game 2 saw the Bruins' forecheck attack with far more pressure and physicality than it had in Game 1. They were able to grind down the Maple Leafs' defensemen by consistently taking the body whenever possible. "They didn't give us a lot of time," Toronto defenseman Morgan Rielly said after Game 2. If the Bruins can sustain that forecheck, they should again be able to wear down the Maple Leafs. But if Toronto can use its speed more effectively, similar to what it did in Game 1, it should be able to create odd-man rushes off transition and use its offensive skill to overwhelm what could be a shorthanded Boston defensemen group. 4. Frederik Andersen must remain in the zone Andersen has stopped 74 of 79 shots (.937 save percentage) through the first two games. Some of those saves have been highlight-reel worthy. He was the Maple Leafs' best player despite the loss in Game 2 and needs to maintain his high level of play if Toronto hopes to earn its first postseason series victory since 2004. His play has been significantly better than it was late in the regular season, when he went 3-3-3 with an .881 save percentage in his final 10 games. Andersen stones DeBrusk 00:22 • April 13th, 2019 5. Can Auston Matthews find his offense? To be fair, the Maple Leafs forward is proving to be a much better 200-foot player than he was a year ago. In each of the first two games in Boston, Matthews showed a lot of energy on the back check and made a couple of diving defensive plays to prevent the Bruins from finishing prime scoring chances. At the same time, the Maple Leafs need him to find his scoring touch if they are to advance to the second round. Matthews has no points in the series and has two points (one goal, one assist) in nine postseason games against the Bruins. Bruins projected lineup Brad Marchand -- Patrice Bergeron -- David Pastrnak Jake DeBrusk -- David Krejci -- Karson Kuhlman Danton Heinen -- Charlie Coyle -- David Backes Joakim Nordstrom -- Noel Acciari -- Chris Wagner Zdeno Chara -- Charlie McAvoy Torey Krug -- Brandon Carlo Matt Grzelcyk -- Steven Kampfer Tuukka Rask Jaroslav Halak Scratched: Paul Carey, Zane McIntyre Injured: Sean Kuraly (broken hand), John Moore (upper body), Marcus Johansson (illness), Kevan Miller (lower body), Connor Clifton (upper body) Maple Leafs projected lineup Zach Hyman -- John Tavares -- Mitchell Marner Andreas Johnsson -- Auston Matthews -- Kasperi Kapanen Patrick Marleau -- William Nylander -- Connor Brown Tyler Ennis -- Frederik Gauthier -- Trevor Moore Morgan Rielly -- Ron Hainsey Jake Muzzin -- Nikita Zaitsev Jake Gardiner -- Travis Dermott Frederik Andersen Michael Hutchinson Scratched: Nic Petan, Justin Holl, Igor Ozhiganov, Martin Marincin, Calle Rosen, Garret Sparks, Nazem Kadri Injured: None Status report Kampfer will make his playoff debut after scratched for Games 1 and 2. … McAvoy and DeBrusk, who were day to day, will play. Clifton, who was injured in Game 2, will not be. ... Kadri had an in-person hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety in New York on Monday for his cross check to DeBrusk's head in Game 2. Ennis will play after being scratched for Games 1 and 2. TIME TO MAKE A FEW PREDICTIONS SEEM FALSE. You know who you are. stream: http://bilasport.net/game/toronto-maple-leafs-vs-boston-bruins-1.html

Uhhh, hate to say it, but,..I get it. That's why I was one of the only ones seeking some heavy physicality rootin, tootin hombre types. It is the way it has been,...like forever, or as far as I recall. It becomes very weighted/heavy where battles take place and are allowed more often. truth. But ya, look, I get it,....and for stat guys it drives them nuts because they think,....Why have two different systems that allows what you call a penalty in the regular season just stop, then allow a different set of rules/or allowing a different guideline when for I.E. a simple one handed stick check near the gloves becomes a penalty and, then in the playoffs a D man is allowed to take down an opponent or crosscheck him in the back in the crease or along the boards and let almost havoc take place, especially when there is a cap and teams prefer to go with skill and pay those types? The real simple answer is, we have never seen games in the playoffs called like they do in the regular season, and when they actually do it twice in a row, then maybe I would adjust my stance on the importance of a goon that can still play. i.e.kassian/others lol Again, I cannot help but love our team, and man they really impressed me the first game, throwing hits out of the blue and controlling the B's. Thing is, the bruins just got nastier game two, and got away with it, so the truth is still there that the playoffs get called differently and now expect our team to rebound,(I do), part of another learning curve, but yup, they have to come together, and not just one or two step up, everyone. Everyone just needs to own some confidence and know that the battle to victory is hard and sometimes you just have to look past the way the game is called and just be the hungrier team. I totally still believe we can be that team,..it a'int over

Is Willy Ready For The Playoffs

This brings me back to my school days where this post requires the obligatory i can’t hear you Morrie with Nylander’s balls in your mouth. Ahhh to be 12 again

If Johnsson misses the first pass and drop passes at the half wall one more time I'm gonna lose it.
  12. 1 point
But I agree I wish they had scored a goal. Hopeful Nylander is back with Matthews permanently. Johnsson and Kapanen just killing anything for that line so far this series. How is autocorrect so bad at its job?
  13. 1 point
I was too busy watching them dominate the first half of the period.
  14. 1 point
    We get an interference call?
  15. 1 point
We should burn him every time and then he reaches out as grabs someone. We look better, gotta find one. If we're playing Matthews this much, pop him out there wth Marner and Johnny T once.

Honestly I have not seen an angle that shows exactly what Kadri’s stick contacted... but I didn’t see any marks or blood on DeBrusk’s face. I would certainly like to see a way better replay.

I was pulling moreson for a Kassian landing knowing he would of received a 4th line maybe third line role and personally would of used him as the player to either agitate the opposition by means of big body hits, or to use his fisticuffs when called for. Basically my theory is that it may have been better for a guy like Kassian to be the suspended one,..( not saying that Kadri still does not get suspended still) but you know what I mean. Simmonds was a little further down my choices, he is injured now but again...hindsight. We need foresight right now in our game and the boys have to do whatever it takes....except for retaliating.

https://scoutingtherefs.com/2019/04/25819/tonights-nhl-stanley-cup-playoff-referees-and-linesmen-4-15-19/ Literally everyone after the Leafs/Bruins game Saturday: "The next game they should have a veteran crew" The NHL: "How about a guy from Boston and a ref that's only officiated 6 playoff games"
  29. 1 point
I agree with everything you've said here....to address the part in bold : Wouldn't a guy like Wayne Simmons have helped ? The game has changed...in the regular season. But playoff hockey, is still playoff hockey. We don't need a goon. But we could use some toughness, some grit, and perhaps even some forwards who know that a fore check usually involves some sort of contact.

I don't get how some people think this is worth a 5 game suspension or even more than 2 or 3. Is there another camera angle of the hit on Debrusk? You can't see the point of contact in the main side view. The department of player safety has to consider: 1) That you can't see the actual contact on Debrusk and Debrusk is a huge pussy who would certainly fake or embellish given the chance 2) The context of the game. Debrusk elbows Dermott, leads with his knee on Kadri, then blind sides Marleau nearly into a stanchion and he's basically going to get away with all of it. The referees were terrible and let the game get out of hand. You have to consider all these problems in the aggregate and balance against any suspension. I feel the DoPS is going to be tone deaf and operate in a vacuum while treating the incident as totally independent of the rest of the game. And that's on the NHL if they do that... they're accountable for the overall product on the ice and they need to get their shit together. The NFL, NBA, and MLB do not have as wildly inconsistent rulesets from regular season to playoffs or from game to game as the NHL does. It's just a farce at this point. Also go eat a dick Boston and everyone from there.
  33. 1 point
Can someone let Matthews know the playoffs have started. His team needs him.
  34. 1 point
I'd rather have Avery as the head of DoPS over Parros imo. A rat knows a rat better than anyone, not to mention that Parros is terrible at his job.
  35. 1 point
Babcock's comments when asked about the officiating in game two yesterday were interesting. “Every night you get a set of four officials (including linesmen),” Babcock said. “They are no different than the teams. They’re trying to advance (in the playoffs). They eliminate officials as they go, they have people who watch them and decide whether they are the right people to move on."

MLB suspended umpires just in the last year or so for blowing obvious calls. Should become standard in all major leagues.

no. All reffing is reviewed after the playoffs are over then they make decisions on who is allowed to continue coaching playoff games and who isn't but this won't matter. Have you seen or listened to Mike Murphy. It's like listening to Cliff Fletcher a couple of years ago. The NHL is as bad as it gets with reffing. 0 Accountability.
