Unfortunately I think one of Kapanen or Johnsson would have to be apart of any Pesce deal. Kapanen to me is untouchable at this point, losing Johnsson would suck but for an upgrade defensively I would do it.

Jensen would be a solid pickup, definitely an upgrade over Zaitsev and Hainsey.

Didn't Babcock mention right after the Muzzin deal how it's important to keep your top players in their natural position and he just talked about it again today after putting Rielly back on the left side last game. I'm surprised he doesn't try Muzzin on the right side instead.

So I guess the Muzzin - Rielly pairing is over with. Rielly back to his regular side with Hainsey as his partner. Wonder if it'll get Dubas to go after that RH dman more aggressively this trade deadline.
  5. Muzzin with a couple big turnovers the past couple games lol
  6. That Matthews and Kapanen chemistry looking like the Matthews and Nylander chemistry we saw the past two seasons!

    Your 2018/2019 Toronto Maple Leafs

I was listening to a clip on TSN and even though it's pretty visible, they mentioned how Matthews' scoring chances are way further down when he plays with Marleau. Why is this still a combination? It's not like Marleau provides Matthews what Hyman did. I think it's time put Nylander back with Matthews and throw Johnsson on the left side! Marleau, Kadri and Kapanen as the third line. Ennis, Gauthier and Brown as the 4th.

Glad to have him back in the lineup. I'd sit Lindholm. Ennis, Gauthier and Brown would be a solid 4th line.

Guess our assistant GM has been to the last two Carolina games still. I'm really hoping we can somehow unload Zaitsev and get Pesce lmao

    Playoffs/Predictions

Toronto vs Montreal would be a sick first round matchup.

GDT: Senators vs. Leafs. 7:30 PM EST, SN.

Zaitsev should be last in ice time. He is awful. There was a little debate the other day on this board regarding McQuaid, I'd probably trade Zaitsev for McQuaid straight up lmao

Can you imagine if Gardiner accident put that puck in our own net hahaha

Why is Marleau still on Matthews wing? That's been a disaster from day 1...

Why the fuck was Gardiner so high up?

    Marner

I'm sure a deal will be done by July 1st. I'm more worried that another GM will give Kapanen an offer sheet because we all know we'd match any offer for Marner that another GM would pay him but we wouldn't be able to match a Kapanen offer sheet that sees him getting 5-6 million.
  16. Can multiple teams retain on the same player? As much as I'd like Marleau's contract to be gone, I think he's still here for another year lol.
  17. Matthews34

    Marner

I'm not worried about the contract. They'll settle for something like 10.16 lol

    Marner

Haha you think Panarin is getting anything less than 11 on the market? Lol

Don't think you're going to get Ceci for cheap. I remember watching TSN a few weeks ago and they mentioned his name and how Ottawa would want a 1st round pick and a prospect to start off.
  20. I get Marleau is only making 1.5 million in salary but his cap hit is still 6 million which is a lot to take on for any contender for Marleaus production nowadays.
  21. I think he'd only be eligible for a NMC for the final year or that contract but I haven't heard of anything.
  22. Getting this done early and knowing the cap hit also helps us with potential deadline moves having a little more clairity in terms of our future cap situation.
  23. All those teams have not faced the cap crunch the Leafs are in right now. The 1.5M we save on going on a shorter term is 2/3rds of the 4th line. Him signing for 5 years doesn't mean he's walking after the 5 years.
