I know the Rooney rule is a touchy subject, racism and all that, but I'm honestly starting to think that it's a bit crazy. Not crazy, more like, an extreme reaction to a problem. A problem that I honestly don't think is a problem anymore. I know it was, and I know the rule did a lot to change that problem but this Raiders situation is just all kinds of wrong.

They followed the rule. They knew from interviews that Gruden was their guy. Why is that bad? They interviewed minorities, like the rule stipulates, they still liked Gruden. Seems wrong to me. The spirit of the rule was to allow minority coaches a chance, a solid chance, to actually be looked at and land a job possibly. Nothing the Raiders have done says to me they wanted a white guy and not a minority guy.
