Bautista released by the Braves.

Don't see what other options he has left in USA/Canada. Maybe some Dominican league or play in Japan. Either way, don't see an MLB team wanting him on their roster. And doubt he goes to the minors without a guarantee of getting called up shortly(like was probably the case in Atlanta).

I really hope he doesn't bounce around to other teams on minor league deals trying to hang on. He's clearly done, this is just pissing on his legacy at this point.

Ya, don't end up having an ending to a career like Manny Ramirez.

Manny signed with Rays, played a few games before that whole 100gm suspension stuff. Eventually signed with the A's, released, signed with Rangers, released, signed with the Cubs, released, then played in dominican winter league and last year played in Japan. He never made it to the majors again after his Rays stint.

Or almost as bad, an ending like Shaq. Going to the Cavs and then worse, a Lakers legend joining the Celtics.

Another Red Sox FA signing blowing up in their face? What an absolute surprise!

What??

The Sox had him for 3 full seasons. If they kept him for this year, his $22 million option kicks in at his 497 at bat. They had to DFA him.

Standings in final week of season are interesting.

Brewers or Cubs will finish 2nd best in the NL(possibly TIED for 1st) and have to play a WC game. Meaning whoever finishes 1st in NL likely plays 2nd seed in LDS. And a possible Brewers/Cubs tiebreaker game to determine the division winner before all of that.

In the NL West we could have tiebreaker too. Rockies/Dodgers tied for division lead. Tiebreaker game happens where winner wins division, and loser might miss playoffs altogether.

And in AL, still a chance the Rays and/or Mariners finish BETTER than Cleveland and MISS the playoffs. Yankees and A's play in WC game, when they're better than a division winner, and one or both could finish with 100 wins. Red Sox reward for finishing 1st in AL, play 100 win team in LDS(possible 3rd seed) while Astros finishing 2nd play a 90 win team who might technically be the 6 seed.
