Security Camera System

Recommended Posts

If it's outside, you want the dome cameras and wired in. Wireless cameras have shit quality, however  if you get a camera that stores locally as well as back inside as a DVR I guess it wouldn't matter too much, then it is just a matter of running power.

I'm a big fan of PoE cameras for this reason.

I have a nest system. The outside camera is mounted to the soffit and plugged into the soffit outlet. It's accurate enough to notify me when a fly lands on it. It detects motion and sound and you can control it remotely including talking to it. Everything is stored in the cloud. You need fast unlimited internet. I've had no issues

It's subscription based though right? How much do you pay a month?

I think I'm going to go for the Arlo pro. I like that I don't need a subscription. Its easy to install and if it comes down to it I could always get another kind of camera if I'm not satisfied and place this one in front of the door.

I'll buy it at Costco for the killer return policy. If it doesn't work as well as I want it too I'll return it for the nest cam.
